Wojciech Lipiński

Wojciech Lipiński is a big fan of jazz. He has gained his expertise and experience in this field for a number of years at the International Summer Jazz Academy in Cracow, organized in Polish American cooperation, where his tutors among others were Gary Wittner from USA or Martin Schaber from Austria.

Wojciech regularly performs concerts with his wife as “Swing&Bossa” jazz duo, whose style refers to the "mainstream" sound of Joe Pass and Ella Fitzgerald. They perform standards of the Golden Age of Swing and the most beautiful Brazilian bossa novas, which perfectly blend a warm guitar sound and a lyrical voice.

Aleksandra Lipińska graduated from the rhythmics faculty at the Academy of Music in Łódź, Poland, but her passion for jazz prevailed and developed her interest in singing. She has taken part in numerous vocal jazz workshops as well as masterclasses led by Grażyna Auguścik, Gerald Trotman or Rocio Guitard. She is currently tutored by Anna Serafińska. Aleksandra also wrote the lyrics for childrens lullabies which she recorded together with her husband. She works at the Aleksander Tansman State Music School in Łódź where she teachers rhythmics, hearing development and leads internship for the students of the Academy of Music in Łódź.

Besides amplifying the classical and electric guitars, Wojciech Lipiński also uses a synthesizer which can change the guitar sound into another instrument, e.g. a flute, cello or sitar. The device also enables the player to record samples during the performance and create background music loops on which the musician might freely improvise. The device considerably increases the range of possibilities and enables the duo to perform more extended and interesting arrangements.

Wojciech Lipińskico-authored "Jazz in Action Shot" project, inspired by jazz themes from films, such as "Knife in the Water", "Rosemerys Baby", "Hallo Szpicbródka", "Lalka" or TV series such as "07 zgloś się", "Jan Serce" and "Polskie Drogi". The music soundtracks for these films were composed by Polish jazz masters such as Krzysztof Komeda or late Andrzej Kuryłowicz. The concert programs consist of instrumental pieces as well as soundtracks songs of Sylwester Krajewski (music) and Agnieszka Osiecka (lyrics). Well-known pieces sound fresh thanks to interesting arrangements and sophisticated musicians fond of the improvisation on jazz themes. "Jazz in Action Shot" project brought together Maciej Strzelczyk (violin), Aleksandra Lipińska (vocals), Andrzej Zielak (cello), and Radosław Bolewski (drums). The band had its debut concert on July 28,2007 in the medieval church in Inowłódz and it was a part of the Touring Festival of Łódź Philharmonic "The Colours of Poland". The performance was greatly applauded by the audience.
